Although bad weather cancelled the Summer Youth Program fishing trip on Tuesday, FWC staffers still came up with some fun activities. Instead of catching fish and then identifying them, FWC played the "Who am I?" game, helping the youngsters learn to identify local fish just by description. This was also a chance to review fishing regulations and discuss habitats in and around Cedar Key.
The Youth Program has a big thank you to FWC for their generous donation of both fishing equipment and time spent with our CK kids.

Children in the Summer Youth Program were amazed Tuesday by author and illustrator Andre Frattino. He explained and showed them how he created a graphic novel of the book A Land Remembered. Then Mr. Andre encouraged students to create their own comic strip-style story and listened as Grace Hamp read her story to him and to Ollie Fine.
The theme of this summer's program has been Florida history as depicted in the novel, A Land Remembered. Participants have been learning about the games played, meals eaten, tools used, and customs of Florida's earliest white settlers.
